I am writing to express my deep disappointment with the recent changes to the Nest ecosystem, specifically concerning the compatibility of the new Nest Thermostat (Gen 4) with the Nest app. As a loyal Nest customer, I have invested time and resources into integrating your products into my home for the convenience and efficiency they provide. However, I was surprised and frustrated to learn that the latest generation of the Nest Thermostat is not compatible with the Nest app.
The decision to phase out or limit the functionality of the Nest app in favor of the Google Home app feels like a significant step backward. The Nest app was a major factor in my decision to choose Nest products, and it has always been reliable and user-friendly. The streamlined interface and specific features designed for managing my home's energy use were critical to my daily routine.
I understand that technology evolves, and that changes are sometimes necessary. However, the abruptness of this transition, coupled with the lack of clear communication about how these changes would impact existing users, is disappointing. The Google Home app, while powerful in its own right, does not yet offer the same level of specialization and control that the Nest app provided.
I strongly urge Google Nest to reconsider this decision and find a way to support the new thermostat with the Nest app or enhance the Google Home app to fully replicate the user experience we have grown accustomed to with the Nest app. For many users like myself, the satisfaction of using your products is closely tied to the software that supports them.
