Older nest thermostats without QR our six digit code

Is it not possible to connect an older nest thermostat to Google home? The older models do NOT have a QR our six digit code. Several others have posted this same question and replies keep telling them where to find the QR or code that does not exist on older nests. The nest app will find it but there’s no way to get Google home to see it without a QR our code that doesn’t exist

The QR code is generated by the Nest Thermostat operating system.  Go into settings, then rotate the ring to Nest App, there you will see the code and generate the QR code.  Now, this will not work if the Nest Thermostat is currently linked to a nest account.
