Power connector wiring mistery

nestwiringquiz

I bought a Nest 2020 for my heat pump system and have been having continuous issues with it (so far going on my 3rd replacement in 4 months). Agents can't agree on whether I need a Power Connector or not (some say I do, other that I don't).

Bought one anyway but after hours of sending pictures and being on video with 3 agents, so far no one has been able to tell me how to properly wire it (one had me switch my O/B cable to the C terminal on the thermostat, which kept it on but never switches to cold setting).

Can an actual expert look at my pictures here and tell me how to properly connect my Power Connector so I can once and for all get my HVAC back in working order?

Here's a picture of how my HVAC wiring looks like: https://drive.google.com/file/d/16rYbdmqfmBVt8KHHNZerS0gJiIHiadyG/view?usp=sharing

And how my Thermostate wiring looks like, mirroring my old thermostat labels: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YmXEwUHr8EPkwmWrc5x_kKlgfzMZZpJy/view?usp=sharing

Thanks in advance!

Hi @nestwiringquiz,

We apologize for the inconvenience you're experiencing with your Nest Thermostat 2020. Do you still have a picture of your previous thermostat's wiring? This could help us confirm the correct wiring for your Nest device.

In addition to sending you a Nest Power Connector, I'll need some additional information from you. To ensure your privacy, it would be best to share this information through a secure form.

I've included a link to a form. Please fill it out at your convenience, and let us know when you're finished.

All the best,

Josh

Hi @nestwiringquiz,

Unfortunately I'm not able to get access to the pictures, would you mind sharing a new link with no restrictions or posting the picture directly on your post.

Regards,

Josh

Added the pictures directly. For some reason it didn't let me add photos when I first posted it

Hi @nestwiringquiz

Based on the pictures you shared, it appears your current Nest Thermostat may not be compatible with your system. The Thermostat compatibility checker recommends the Nest Learning Thermostat for your setup.

However, to definitively confirm compatibility, I need to clarify the label of one wire in the middle at the bottom of your previous thermostat (seems to be a D).

To help with this, I've included a link to the compatibility checker. You can use this tool with the actual wiring configuration from your previous thermostat to determine compatibility.

Please feel free to try this, and let me know if you get the same recommendation as me (Nest Learning Thermostat).

Best regards

Josh
