Hello.
I have a 3rd Gen Nest Learning Thermostat that is located on a baseplate on my hallway wall.
I am having some extensive building works done and that wall is now blocked off from the part of the house where we are living as it is where the builders are working. The problem is the Nest is now located in the 'building site' and so is exposed to cold temperatures while the renovations are being done.
I was wondering if rather than trying to relocate the entire thermostat and wall mounting base plate, can I just pop the thermostat off the wall, purchase and Nest stand, and locate the stand and Nest in a part of the house where we are living - as opposed to where the building work is happening? I know I need to link the thermostat with the Heat Link via WiFi but I wanted to know is it just a matter of popping the thermostat off the wall and plugging into a stand, or do I need to move any more of the fitting?
Thanks in advance
Martin

Such a simple answer one of the Google people could have answered for you, but they don't bother!!
Yes you can.
Buying the stand will not include the wall mount connector that you WILL need. This is the part you have fixed to the wall currently.
Parts required, Stand, Plug Lead and adapter + Wall Plate connector.
Before removing go to, Settings, Equipment, Heat Link. You should see the Heat Link is connected ''Wired & Wireless'', if not connect the thermostat wireless while it's still in the wired position. That way it's just easier.
Then move to new location on the stand. Leave for a few moments for the thermostat to start up and pair, if you get a yellow light on the Heat Link for sometime, restart your display by pressing against the stand and hold until little house shows, then release. You should now have a paired wireless thermostat on a stand.
Make sure you make the cable safe in the original position, as that will still be 12v from the Heat Link.
