I’m installing a Nest Thermostat, but I have two wires coming from the wall; one is red, the other is yellow, and both wires are connected to the old thermostat on Y1.

If what say is correct, that is Red wire and Yellow wire connected to Y1 terminal on old thermostat, then your thermostat is not controlling anything at all.  Please post a picture of your old thermostat showing the wires attached to it.

The quality of the images does allow me to enlarge to see the labels. It looks like the wire with Y is a jumper to another terminal to the right just past the green wire. It looks like you have a Heat Pump system and the Y; compressor is jumper to W; Heat. So when a call for heat is made, it turns on the Heat Pump Compressor and the White wire might be on O terminal?

From right to left, I have a red wire from the wall connecting to Rh, and a blue jumper going from terminal Rh to terminal R.

Two wires coming from the wall, one is red, and the other one is yellow, connected to terminal Y1

One green wire coming from the wall connected to terminal G

One white wire coming from the wall connected terminal O

Yes indeed you must have a Heat Pump System. Your Nest Wires should be:

Red to Nest Rc; 24Vac Power In

Yellow to Nest Y1, Compressor Relay

White to Nest *OB; Heat Pump Mode Selector Heat/Cool

Green Wire to Nest G; Blower Fan Relay

Ignore the red jumper between Y1 and W1.

I want to confirm because I have three red wires coming out of the wall.

Red wire connected terminal W1, connect to Nest Rc: 4Vac Power In.

Yellow wire connected terminal Y1, connect to Nest Y1: Compressor Relay.

White wire connected terminal O, connect to Nest *OB: Heat Pump Mode Selector Heat/Cool.

Green connected terminal G, connect to Nest G: Blower Fan Relay.

Ignored red wire connected to Y1.

Ignored red wire connected to Rh.

Ignored blue jumper connected from Rh to R.

You need to go to the air handler and see where the extra red wires are going to.  Just need make sure where we can put them. Also, what ever they go to, they are activated with Cooling (Y1) and Heating (W1).

The red wire on Y1 and W1 should not be connected in the nest backplate at this time.

Thank you very much. You have made things easy to understand.
