Hello 1123,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the wiring code E195 on your Nest Thermostat. We appreciate your diligence in bringing this issue to our attention.

A wire is present, but there's no voltage. This indicates a power-related issue with your thermostat. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:

  1. Make sure that your breakers are on.
  2. Ensure the thermostat wires are properly stripped and seated in the thermostat base.
  3. Check your system's drip pan or drain tubes. With frequent AC use, the drip pan might be full of water, or the drain tube might have a clog. In these cases, the AC or heat pump might shut itself off to prevent an overflow of water.
  4. Check the Air filter. A clog in the air filter can limit how much air flows over the cooling coils. If the clog persists, the cooling coils can freeze and cause the system to shut off.
  5. Look for the energy savings box. Some utility companies install boxes that cut off the power during high-demand (peak) times. These energy savings boxes can cause the report.
  6. Gather the power readouts in your thermostat's Technical Info settings.
  7. Share with us a photo of your thermostat's wiring setup.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark

I get this error. Shuts my furnace down when heating after 5-10 minutes. After a few minutes does it again. No low battery errors. Seems when I plug into USB charger it helps problem go away. I tried a different thermostat and I have no issues. Nest Pro Thermostat.

Hey there,

It's interesting that using a USB charger seems to alleviate the issue. It could potentially indicate a power-related issue with the Nest Thermostat. Since using a different thermostat resolves the problem, it might be worth it if you could give me your thermostat's power readings in the Technical Info. Also, does it have a C wire installed?

Keep me posted.

Thanks,
Mark
