I have three nest temperature sensors. They all lost connection to the thermostat. I removed them from my app, pulled out battery to reset, tried to add them back to my app. Keeps saying cannot connect to thermostat, no matter how close they are to thermostat. I've tried everything on the google suggestion page. still does not work.

This worked perfect for me,
thanks

Worked perfectly...didn't even take the batteries out. Thanks!

Some reason my factory batteries went to **bleep** so I had to upgrade to energizer It was either energizer or Duracell but I found them at Lowe's

Can't connect with sensor. Tried placing sensor in a variety of places: beside thermostat, beside router, in every room of the house: NOTHING! Is the sensor faulty?

I was able to get a connection with the sensors after doing a Restart of the thermostat. Selected the restart option under the reset section in the thermostat UI.

My Nest thermostat keeps losing connection to the temperature sensor. I have to restart thermostat at least 1-2 times per week to reestablish the connection.
I have changed the battery in the sensor and have removed and readded the sensor to the thermostat, multiple times.
No connection issue for 3 years, and suddenly in the last couple of months the connection issues start. I'm thinking that there was an update that is causing the connection loss. Can't seem to get help from Nest support.

Same here I think ever since nest sold out to google ,Google doesn’t care???

I know this is an old thread. As of yesterday, the Nest app started notifying me that the thermostat couldn't connect to the temperature sensor, but the sensor was still reporting its temperature to the app. Strange. I have tried everything in this thread. Even when they are a foot apart, the thermostat still cannot connect to the sensor. It is very frustrating!

It will do that and call for heat based on that temp. Scroll up for my reply on 1/15. That should fix you up

Tried that, too. I'm on a chat with Google Nest support as I'm posting this.

I'm having the same issue- I've tried everything listed above and nothing works. So frustrating

Same problem. I thought it was a dead battery - it had been over 2 years, so that made sense. But, after getting new batteries in it just said it was offline and couldn't reconnect. Resetting the thermostat is not working for me, either.

I think they are forcing us to buy new sensors ??? No Google support at all!! Very frustrating..

So any suggestions when restarting the thermostat didn’t fix it and changing the battery didn’t fix it? Still wont connect even with new battery and restarting the thermostat from within its menu.

My temperature sensor still isn't connecting and Google support never responded back when they said they would. So I guess I'm going to just throw it away and never buy another nest product.

Sensor would connect to the app, but would not connect to thermostat. I removed and reconnected to the app. After several attempts I simply reset the thermostat while also removing the battery from the sensor for 10 minutes. It reconnected without issue.

1. Remove the sensor via the phone app.
2. Remove the battery from the sensor.
3. Restart the wall thermostat via the controls on the unit.
4. Re-add the sensor to the phone app.
5. (With battery still removed) Scan the QR code on the inside cover of the sensor.
6. When directed to "pull the tab to activate the battery," put the battery back in the sensor.
7. Continue to follow the set up directions but keep the sensor close to the thermostat.
8. After the connection is complete, then move the sensor to where you really want it 😉

The only thing that worked for me. Thank you!!

This worked for me after trying nearly everything else. Thank you!
Pretty lame of google/nest for not fixing this recurring problem or providing their own tech support.

Just bought brand new sensors, and they all had the connection issue out of the box. This fixed it for me. Only had to restart the thermostat the one time for them all to start being able to connect.

This also worked for me after hours of trying other things. You're the REAL MVP! Thanks so much!

I did have same problem and super annoy.
Ironically, physical product hardware and design are awesome and reliable.
However,
Google software product quality become really bad compared to competitors, Apple/Amazon.
Feedback and customer service basically useless.

Same here!

Mine was connected until I changed the battery, now it won't connect no matter what I do.

I had same problem. Easy and best fix is to remove the thermostat from Google home. Also remove the thermostat from the "account". Under settings on the learning thermostat.
Afterwards, reinstall the thermostat and add the sensors. Worked for me.

I had this issue. When none of the above solutions works. I checked the internal terminals using a multi-meter with the battery removed and it appears that the sensors have a capacitor that maintains a 3v charge for a long time. I kept the meter on the terminals of the sensor until it was discharged to 0.01v which took about 10 minutes. After it was discharged, I put in a new battery and it found the sensor right away. I guess an actual reset button would avoid the need to do this, but hopefully this method will help someone. If you don't have a multi meter at home you can a cheap one from Harbor freight for $7

I have the same issue I have but one I'm guessing it's battery died I went and got the new little expensive battery, put it in. Attempted to pair it back up. didn't work. Proceeded to go for broke and the original off the nest account and Google home account still then won't recognize them in pair there's no indicator light on the sensor so I don't even know if it's responding but I don't know. Nest where do we go from here? Warranty claims? Repair or replace?

Can try making sure the sensor is fully discharged. You try connecting a multimeter to the battery terminals with the battery removed. Doing so will slowly discharge the sensor. Once fully discharged mined connected right away

If you've tried all the troubleshooting steps suggested by Google and are still experiencing issues with your Nest temperature sensors connecting to the thermostat, here are some additional steps you can try:
Check Wi-Fi Connectivity: Make sure that both the thermostat and the temperature sensors are connected to your Wi-Fi network. Poor Wi-Fi connectivity can cause connection issues. If needed, restart your Wi-Fi router and check for any potential interference that might be affecting the signal.
Firmware Updates: Ensure that your Nest thermostat and temperature sensors have the latest firmware updates installed. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve connectivity issues.
Check Battery Levels: Verify that the batteries in your Nest temperature sensors are charged and inserted correctly. Low battery levels can impact the devices' functionality.
Reboot the Thermostat: Try rebooting your Nest thermostat by removing it from the wall for a few seconds and then reattaching it. This action can sometimes help resolve connectivity problems.
Reset the Thermostat: If rebooting doesn't work, you may need to perform a full reset on the thermostat. Refer to the Nest support documentation for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.
Reset the Temperature Sensors: Perform a factory reset on the temperature sensors by removing the batteries, waiting for a few seconds, and then reinserting them. Follow the Nest support instructions for the specific model you have.
Check for Interference: Electronic devices and other Wi-Fi devices nearby may interfere with the signals. Try moving the thermostat and temperature sensors away from potential sources of interference.
Contact Customer Support: If you've exhausted all troubleshooting steps and the issue persists, it may be time to contact Nest customer support for further assistance. They can provide specialized help for your specific situation.
It's essential to follow the Nest support documentation and guidelines precisely when performing any resets or troubleshooting steps to avoid causing any other issues. If none of these steps work, the devices themselves might be faulty, and you may need to consider replacing them or contacting Nest support for further assistance and possible warranty claims.

I have the same issue.
