Hi Indico, two wires can be a problem when using the Nest Thermostat. However, you can get it to work normally if you also purchase a google connector whenever you buy the Nest Thermostat. Hope this helps.

I am not sure, but based on the label in the thermostat and the thickness of the wires it looks like those could be high voltage wires instead of low voltage. If it is high voltage a Nest is not compatible. High voltage can be dangerous so take necessary precautions.
See the compatibility checker for more information.

Hey folks,
Thanks for chiming in, sporfrog and Joel1.
Indico, based on the photos that you provided, you may have a proprietary system. This type of system usually has wires in the thermostat’s connector that have non-standard labels (for instance 1,2,3, or A, B, C). Sometimes, it only has two wires, but you have both heating and cooling.
Proprietary systems aren’t compatible with Google Nest thermostats. However, some can be rewired by a pro installer to be compatible.
Best,
