Hi - as I understand it, the new Nest Thermostat doesn’t have the ability to set temperature maximum / minimum ranges (e.g. maximum heat temperature of 78). Is that correct? Is there any plan to add this feature in the future? It would be very helpful!

Hi Pamelawang6,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts here in the community.
Your Nest thermostat gives you a temperature range that you can select from when you set an Eco Temperature. The Eco Temperature ranges you can choose from are large: 40-70 °F (4-21 °C) for heating mode and 76-90 °F (24-32 °C) for cooling mode.
Factors like your home's construction, local climates, heating and cooling system performance, and your personal comfort preference can vary widely. So we don’t make specific Eco Temperature recommendations, but you'll find more information about Eco temperature here.
Best regards,
Ryan

Thank you for sharing this information. If I wanted to lock in the range so that others cannot change it, this option wouldn’t work as they can move out of eco mode, correct?

Hi Pamelawang6,
Thanks for your reply.
The Eco temperature is another option for selecting temperature ranges and other users will not be able to change any settings when your thermostat has a lock enabled.

Ryan

I have the Nest Thermostat new model (not Learning Thermostat or E model). I don’t see an option to lock the thermostat or is there something I’m missing?

Hi Pamelawang6,
Thanks for your reply and we're sorry for the delay.
The new Nest thermostat doesn't have the lock feature available to the Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E. What we can use is the temperature presets and then changing the wake on approach settings to press so that everyone needs to actually press the display for them to wake up the Nest thermostat.
I hope it helps.
Best regards,
Ryan
