Thermostat can’t connect to WiFi

My thermostat is in FL. I am in MI. My power in FL went out and my nest thermostat won’t reconnect to my router. My Schlage smart door lock reconnected to my router by itself. My Wyze camera reconnected to my router by itself. But this expensive SMART Nest thermostat needs me to physically, manually connect it to my router. I would like this thermostat to automatically reconnect like my much less costly devices do. How?

Yes, the problem is with the nest program. My Schlage door wifi and Wise camera both automatically reset to my wifi after a power outage. Not my nest thermostat. I had to wait until I traveled here to manually reset it. So yes my problem still exists.

Hey kzett,

I am sorry to hear about the trouble you had run into. Having to wait until the next time you travel is never ideal. Your Nest thermostat will typically be able to reconnect easily, to the same Wi-Fi network as long as nothing has changed. I am sorry it wasn't able to reconnect this time.

Please let me know if you have any trouble from here, as I would be happy to assist further.

Best regards,

Jake

Jake, So you agree that the nest thermo does not easily reconnect to wifi but should connect like the other less expensive wifi devices in my house? Is there a reason that it does not easily reconnect? Do I have a one of a kind lemon and all other nest thermo's easily connect? Which do you think is it?  Karl

Hey kzett,

The device will not reconnect if you have managed to change your router, Internet provider, firewall, or password. If any network changes occur, the device would need to be manually connected to the new network. If your Nest product is offline in the app for an extended period of time, it’s unable to reconnect to your home Wi-Fi network as well. I am sorry that you had run into the device not auto connecting. Please let me know if you have any other questions from here.

Best regards,

Jake
