Thermostat lock temp

Is it possible to lock or change the minimum and maximum temperature setpoints on a goggle nest thermostat and if so how?  I’d like to keep renters from turning my condo into a freezer.

You need go into neat settings menu & turn on a passcode lock on the nest thermostat or from the app then it will ask you for locked temp range that they can adjust to in between that range. Good luck.

I know that’s possible for the nest learning stat but is it also possible with the cheaper model?

Sorry I wouldn’t know. Nest tech help should be able to help. Good luck.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out. I'd like to help. The Lock feature is only available in the Nest Learning Thermostat and Nest Thermostat E

When you lock your Nest thermostat in Heat mode or Cool mode, you'll set a temperature range after you create a four digit PIN. Anyone can turn the thermostat's ring to change the temperature within the range you've set, but they won't be able to set the temperature outside of your range or change any of your settings.

For Nest Thermostat 2020, we have a feature called Hold. This is convenient if you want your thermostat to ignore scheduled or automatic temperature changes for a while and stay at a specific temperature.

You can visit this support article for more information.

I appreciate your input, @HVAC.

Best,

Jenelyn
