Unable to add Nest 3rd Generation Learning Thermostat Pro Edition to nest account

Had a 2nd Gen thermostat running for ages until its become unsupported.

Just purchased a 3rd Gen ( used ) + Heatlink, all fitted and working fine .
The problem comes when linking to nest account, It fails every time with error TDO17(0)
The display unit is about 10 ft away from the router , Full signal.
Is it possible that the unit is still on the other persons account even if the unit has been re set. ???
HELP......  its driving me mad .

THANKS

Assuming the thermostat was set back to factory, then no it will not be linked to another account. You can make sure by doing a factory reset, then start again, but look in settings under App and see if connected.

I assume you are connecting via the app? Again to make sure delete the app, then install that again.

When setting up, if you are using the QR code, try manually, I never use the QR code.

It is like the thermostat might still be linked to the previous account, even after a reset—contacting Nest support to remove it from their account usually resolves this. For anyone setting up devices and displays, having clear guidance and visuals, like what D&Z Sculpture provides, can make tricky setups much easier.
