Vacation home thermostat missing from app

Have a vacation home in the mountains, and set up a Nest Thermostat last year (G1 I believe). All last year, I was able to adjust the thermostat remotely. During the summer, I didn't check on the Nest much, because we weren't up there, and the temps weren't cold enough to worry about freezing pipes. Fast forward to last month, and I realize that when I go to the Nest app, I no longer can click into the app to adjust the temperature.

I did get a new phone (still ios), so I'm not sure if I lost connectivity then or sometime over the summer. Regardless, I'm trying to figure out how to reconnect to the thermostat while not being up there. I've checked my ISP router log, and it shows one device is connected, which should be the Nest.

Is there a way for me to "find" the thermostat again, or do I need to go up there to reset up the same thermostat that previously worked fine?

Thanks in advance...

Additionally, if I left the thermostat at 45 (before the connection issue), and then this disconnection occurred, will the thermostat still maintain a 45 degree temp even if the wifi isn't working?

@CPRITCH23

We don't have a Nest thermostat, but you could try contacting Support, using the link and instructions in this post:

Hello everyone,

I'm jumping in to make sure everything is covered here.

Thanks for leading the user to contact us, @MplsCustomer.

@CPRITCH23, it sounds like you're dealing with an account issue with your Nest Thermostat. First off, it's possible that the change in your phone might have disrupted the connection, and you were logged in on a different email account.

Verify the email address used for the setup. Sign out with the current email account signed in and try logging in with other email addresses you might have associated with your thermostat. If the email is right, check for the other home structures available where it might be linked.

Regarding the temperature setting, typically, Nest Thermostats retain their last known settings even if they lose Wi-Fi connectivity. So, if you set it to 45 degrees before the disconnection, it should continue maintaining that temperature until the next temperature changes or you manually change it.

I hope these suggestions help you reconnect with your Nest Thermostat and regain control remotely. Safe travels to your mountain home.

Best regards,
Mark
