Voltage Question Therm 1.4

Hankl
Community Member

I've had a Nest Thermostat v1.4 for about 9 months and today I received a "very low battery" alert. The voltage showed 3.09v.

I replaced the 2 AA batteries and the battery status is now "ok" and the voltage shows as 3.23v. It's been at that voltage for 3 hours.

Is this considered ok or should the voltage b6 at least 3.6v?

Thank you

That is too low.

Do you have a C wire installed?

Hi Hankl,

Thanks for reaching out here in the community.

I'd like to jump in here and check if you've already take a look at the wire on your Nest thermostat base. From there, you would see if there's a C (Common wire) connected.

Thanks for the help, Patrick_Caezza.

Hey Hankl,

Thanks for the reply.

It looks like the Nest Thermostat is not getting enough power to continuously operate. The HVAC unit supplies its power through the R wire and seems to be not enough to keep the thermostat charged.

We could take a look at the main board from the HVAC unit and check if there's unused wire that could possibly be a common (C) wire.

Regards,

Ryan

Hi Hankl,

Thanks for the reply.

It would be amazing to look at the main board and let us know how it goes after your technician checked it.

I hope to hear from you soon

I have no idea. The thermostat has been working for 8 months without any problems.
