Hi, my 14 month old Nest Learning Thermostat in the UK has lost wifi connection and is showing the W5 error. All trouble shooting tried but problem not solved. I read many people have the same W5 issues. I am having it for the second time. Last time the installer replaced the thermostat free of charge, this time they will not. What causes this error? What must I do to remedy it? Thanks.

W5 is usually caused with the wifi chip being faulty, and has been going on for years.
Regarding the installer refusing to repair/replace, well here in the UK they cannot!!!
They are responsible for the installation, and the parts fitted for believe it not up to about 5 years. Consumer law is on your side in the UK, they cannot just walk away and say I'm not doing anything.
The install and item has to be, Fit for purpose, Of reasonable quality, and more important ''Last for a reasonable length of time.
You do have a 2 year Google warranty, BUT, if you get an exchange unit from Google, the installer wipes their hands of the instllation, as it's not the original install.
The installer may say not interested, but if you take the installer to the small claims court, they will loose, and have to not only pay for the repair, but all your court costs, everything. Even if they say get a pro in to prove it's faulty, fine, but if it costs, they even have to pay that cost. They will be stupid if they refuse to repair.
I have been trying to update people for years on this, and this law covers you for ANYTHING you buy in the UK.
