Which Nest Thermostat do I have?

dmcneil44

I just moved into an existing home with a Nest thermostat. How can I tell which version/model it is?  I scanned the QR code on the back of the thermostat, and it directed me to a non-relevant site. Had to ask the A/C tech about who made the thermostat, as no name/version/model # on it. Thanks.

Can you take a photo of the thermostat?  as an alternative, you can go into the nest app (if connected) or on the thermostat itself,

  1. Select your thermostat on the app home screen.
  2. Tap Settings .
  3. Select Technical info.
  4. Refer to the numbers next to the “Display model” of your thermostat. The first digit of the number tells you what thermostat you have: xx is a 1st gen Nest Learning Thermostat. xx is a 2nd gen Nest Learning Thermostat.

It's such a common question that Google has a whole page for it.
