Regarding Google Nest and Wifi. If my Wifi is disconnected will my furnace still run if the temperature drops below the preset temperature? Is there a default? I live in Northern Ontario, far from an urban area, and Wifi is sporadic at best.

Hi, Greener.
Thanks for reaching out with your question about the Nest Thermostat and WiFi setup. If your WiFi goes down (whether it's Nest WiFi or any other type of network), your Nest Thermostat will continue to control your furnace as scheduled. You will still be able to make adjustments on the device itself directly, but will need the WiFi in order to use your mobile device to control the thermostat.
Hopefully that answers your questions. Let me know if you need any more help. Thanks!

The troubleshooting says that it will periodically retest to connect Wi-Fi but I have not seen this happen. My Wi-Fi doesn't lose signal but my thermostat disconnects from it and does not reconnect until I shut down and restart everything app and thermostat. With this hassle I might as well go back to my manual thermostat. This thing also sucks batteries like nobody's business. What money am I saving if I have to keep replacing batteries?

Hey, TigerNoel.
It sounds like your WiFi is stable from the network side but that the thermostat is the issue. It might be a good idea for you to post about your issue in the thermostat forum and reference this thread here. If you have a faulty thermostat, they can help you address that issue there or find you a resolution.
Thanks.
