Looking at a Nest E but am not sure if it does what I need.
I have a heat pump and electric backup furnace.
Current controller is an AUBE CT280-3H3C currently wires are:
TH - 2 of them
OS - 2 wires into the one connection
R (2 wires) C (2 wires), Y1,Y2,W1,W2, W3/O/B, L, G, W/W
am I correct in understanding-
- OS wires are not needed (nest uses the internet)
- TH are not needed as the nest is a thermostat and controller all in one
- nest E does not have W2 but manual says it can go in the O/B socket? If so, how does it make a call to the heat pump vs the electric furnace?
- what about the WW, C wire(s)
- am I good to persist with 2 wires into R (and wherever C goes)
any ideas?

Basing on your wiring I think it's better if you get a Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd gen. Look for the compatibility widget that help you to get a better answer.
