What do you have is a manufactures digital proprietary thermostat. It communicates using data and not simply voltage. This is not compatible with a nest thermostat. The good news is, most of these systems. Can be converted to a conventional HVAC control system. You will need to hire a Nest Pro to investigate and advise if your system can be converted. If you have at least five conductors in the thermostat cable, you may have a chance to get converted to a nest smart thermostat.

Hi Kev12n,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Your current thermostat has the non-standard labels of rs-, rs+, vg, and v+ which means that your system is proprietary.

Proprietary systems aren’t compatible with Google Nest Thermostats. However, some proprietary systems can be rewired by a pro installer to be compatible.

Let us know if that helps.

I appreciate your help, @CoolingWizard

Best,

Zoe.
