I have a single thermostat with heating and AC and could use some help wiring the Nest E thermostat.
The wires on the current thermostat are:
Red = Rh
Blue = Rc
White = W
Yellow = Y
Green = G
Not sure how that would correspond with the connections on the Nest E. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Do you have a separate heating system like a boiler (not part of the air conditioning air handler)?
Can you confirm what equipment you have.
Is there only one cable in the wall that goes to the equipment and can you go look at the equipment remove the cover and take a pic of the thermostat cable wires connected to the screws so can determine where RC and where RH come from.

Thanks for replying. I have a gas boiler and a separate air conditioner that both use the same air handler. I am not at that location right now so I can take a photo of the connections down in the basement the next time I am in that location.
I tried hooking up the respective wires by color:
Red = R
Green = G
Yellow = Y1
White = W
Blue = disconnected
and I found the heat would go on, get up to temperature and then the furnace would go off but the fan would continue to run. The heat would then never go back on again.
I also tried the Blue connected to C but that didn't change anything.
I put back the old thermostat and it works fine as shown in the photo. Not sure if that helps, but I will definitely take a photo of the wiring on the air handler as soon as I can.

I took some photos of the wiring in the air handler to hopefully give some insight into how the thermostat is connected on the other end.
Hope that helps.

And here is my Nest E connector plate. I am enclosing them because the labels are slightly different between different models.

It looks like you have a Boiler that makes the heat.
I see T T Boiler purple wires on the board.
Is this a hot water air handler with a AC coil in the same air handler?
So is the same ducts and fan used for both heat and AC?

Yes, our boiler is separate from the AC but using the same air handler.

Hi folks,
Thanks for the help, Houptee.
RunnerMan, since you have both Rc and Rh wires, you need to setup a Nest Learning Thermostat which has wires to accommodate all your HVAC system's wiring.
You could still use the Nest Thermostat you have, but I suggest reaching out to a pro technician so they can help rewire your system to be compatible with your thermostat.
Keep us posted.
Best,
Mel
