Wiring and Connection to Nest Thermostat

Dear Community,

I have read posts that may related to my problem but want to double check to make sure. I am trying to hook up a Nest Thermostat for my mother's house.

Problem I have is the Google App can't find the Nest online after configured wiring and so forth. I was able hooked up before but felt like the thermostat is not following instruction set for like hold at certain temperature. I saw like the indoor temp is higher than my set temp but don't see a sign for like cooling down. So should I do the following steps:

1) Reset the Nest completely

2) Set up new device in Google App

3) I have only four wires with low voltage. They are red, white, green and blue. I believe these wires connect to base plate as red to R, white to W, green to G and blue to C. This is to operate electric furnace and A/C.

4) In Google setup for wiring screen, it shows common wires on top and less common on bottom. Since I have four wires, do I pick W/W1, G/G1, R and C? Don't need to pick option for less common wires.

5) At this time, the screen of Nest thermostat said Continue hook up to Google App. But don't know why my iPhone 13 Google App can't find the Nest thermostat standing next to it? So what should I do if I see this screen again? I don't think I go back to all the way step 1?

Thank you in advance for the help.

I played with setup on the thermostat again. And found that I need to connect blue wire to Y to be able setup both heater and A/C. When I connected blue wire only to C, I can only setup the heater. After completed setup, everything is running fine for now.

Hey there,

I am glad to hear you were able to get the device set up, and everything is working from here. With that being the case, I am going to go ahead and lock the thread at this time. If you have any questions from here, please feel free to create a new post.

Best regards,

Jake
