Wiring from Honeywell th8321 to nest

I had a Honeywell th8321wf1001 and I am trying to install the nest with a mirror finish. Are they compatible? I have pictures of the Honeywell board. My furnace is a Trane XV80.  My friend who does HVAC told me to remove the black wire and the orange connector wires from the furnace. There’s a red light that blinks 5 times, pauses, blinks 5 more times. The diagnostic code on the back panel reads “low voltage fuse”. Do I need to replace the 5 amp fuse? Or is that just letting me know the Nest is a low amp product?

I have the yellow wire to W, blue to C, white to W, green to G, red to R, black to *OB, and the brown wire taped off.

it wont connect to the nest and when I tried to manually set it up, it said it couldn’t detect any of the wires.

Hi bmpd,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation.

I see that your system is a Conventional heating and cooling system with auxiliary heat. This kind of system is not compatible with the Nest Thermostat 2020 that you installed but is compatible with the Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation. Below is an image on how you should connect your thermostat wires to the Nest Learning Thermostat base.

Also, here's a guide for the installation and set up of a Nest Learning Thermostat.

Let us know if you have any other questions. We're happy to help.

Best,

Zoe
