I think you have to get the power connector to be detected not the c wire because you dont actually have a c wire connected to the Nest when you use the power connector.

Oh ok I thought you had the little power adapter.

So if you are using a wall plug in transformer you have to put one wire in R with the thermostat wire also in R so 2 wires will be together in the R, and the other wire from wall transformer in C.

Post a pic of what wires you have installed.

Watch this video he explains it.

Hi guys, everything working OK with app and thermostat, however, inside thermostat is reading about 8 degrees above the actual temp in house ..I did read it takes a few days to adjust but this morning it was correct ? I tried to post a pic but doesn't seem to be coming thru? Any suggestions or just let it ride? At this point, I'm not sure I want to keep it..I installed one at our beach( air & heating there) and it's working perfect there. At home we only have oil heat, radiators? Thanks

Hello there,

I know it's been a while, but I wanted to ensure that everything was covered here.

I appreciate you keeping us in the loop, @Pat12. It appears your thermostat is experiencing inconsistent temperature readouts. To confirm, what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? Also, please make sure the software version is up-to-date. I'll wait for your response.

Regards,

Mark

  • Hi we finally got it to work with the app following your guide. I took a pic so u can see, a problem I'm having is now it says it's 78 in the house which is not right. I have another thermometer saying it's 73, heat set at 68...I'm worried the heat won't ever go on if its not working right? My hubs is an electrician so we know it's wired right...uggg

We could not fit both wires into R so he spliced them together and put 1 wire in ?

I don't see any pics showing up in your postsIf you do a power test it should show the Vin and Lin reading to make sure you are getting enough power to R and C. If this is the Nest non learning model go to the nest and hit settings equipment power status. You should see Vin above 24v and report back what the other readings say.
