The E80 error means No power to Y1 wire detected (cold weather shutoff). You’ll see this code if your air conditioner has tripped a safety cut-out switch that prevents your air conditioner from turning on in very cold weather, or your system might need maintenance.
It looks like you have a simple conventional furnace.
Have you tried this wiring?
Yellow - Y to Y1
Green - G to G
White - W to W1
Red - R to Rc
Depending on where the blue wire is connected to the control board in the furnace you might be able to use it for a C wire.

Hey folks,
Thanks for your detailed answer and suggestion, Patrick_Caezza.
HOMEBREWING, how's your thermostat now? Have you had the chance to try Patrick's suggestion above?
Best,
