is it Google? is it Nest? is it ever going to work again???

So the situation with Google acquiring Nest has turned into an untenable mess for me. First it took me 4 days and many calls and countless hours on the phone with customer support to get my Nest tstat to start working again and just when I thought everything was running properly now the Nest smoke detectors are on a separate account and wont work properly.  Looks like I'll have to start the same process over with the smoke detectors that i had to go through to get the tstat to start working correctly.  WOW I'm seriously tempted to throw the whole bunch of Nest/Google products into the trash and start looking for an alternative that has ZERO affiliation with Google.  They certainly have F*CKed this up big time.

Totally agree. Through no fault of my own I cannot connect to my thermostat. Nest thermostat says it is ‘already connected to an account’ so won’t give me a code to link to google account.

In a time when we are all supposed to be saving energy this lack of attention to detail is pathetic. Just so they can get my heating stats to target me with ads for stuff I don’t want.

Sorry I don’t have a solution for you. I am stuck in a gigaloop of FAQs with no meaningful answers.

This is ridiculous! I have the same problem.  Connectivity stopped abruptly yesterday after almost 2 years for no reason.  I will never buy another one. I am switching to Ecobee.

Hey there VickiATL,

Awesome — glad to hear that your issue is fixed. It looks like we can consider this one complete, so I will lock the thread shortly unless I can help out with anything else.
