low battery on my basic nest

My internet had work done on it a few days ago and now I am getting a "very low battery" message.  Nothing was done with my nest thermostat which as been working fine for several years.  We had a two day power outage two months ago and the nest came back on line with no problems.  I change the batteries with two new ones and still get the very low voltage warning.  My nest shows 2.89 volts and 2107 mOhms, VIN 35.109V and LIN 385.  I do not have a "C" wire.   Whatever it is I have readings Y 385, YS 252, VP 2, and W 10.  What's going on and how do I fix it?

The power outage was two months ago and it came back fine.  After the internet was disconnected I could not get the nest back on line because of the "very low voltage".  I provided all the readings I got from my nest.  I have 30+ years in electronics so I'm not a rookie, if I had wiring schematics I could work my way through it.  But this is nothing but frustrating.

Hello folks,

I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.

Thanks for the tips, Rachel.

@RachelGomez123, thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. It appears that your Nest Thermostat is not receiving enough power from your equipment after the power outage. I'd love to know more about this.

Regards,
Mark

Hi there,

The Nest Thermostat (2020) often requires a C wire to work. I understand that you've been using your thermostat for awhile now, but somehow, due to power-related issues, it indicates that it needs additional power. It won't allow you to connect to the Wi-Fi in order to save battery. I'd suggest it's best to install a C wire or a Nest Power Connector to help deliver constant power.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks,

Mark
