I noted my dissatisfaction with the Nest 3rd gen thermostats several weeks ago and did get a response from ZOE and Jenelyn (sp). I tried to reply to their offer of support and was then notified that my request was undeliverable, to either party. I like the internet capabilities of programmable thermostats, but this 3rd Gen nest is just too much, ( or not enough). If anyone would like to trade two gen 2 Nest thermostats for my two gen 3 nest thermostats, I am open to trade if they are working.
I just had a heat pump installed last Dec. and Mitsubishi didn't even have thermostats for their own equipment, at that time, so I chose Nest, as I already have 6 GEN 2 thermostats, that work great. The Gen 3 nest thermostats seem more interested in "hooking up" with other google devices rather than just doing what they are supposed to do..be thermostats that work with temperature changes.

The Gen 2 and Gen 3 run the exact same software. I have installed many Nest Thermostats and have never had a complaint from my customers. What specific request are you receiving from your Nest Gen 3 that you and not desiring? My Gen 3 in my home never asks for anything. I have them registered to Google Nest App and the Google Home app at the same time.

I have been using Nest thermostats from gen. 1, then 2, and now gen. 3 when Nest was actually an independent company. I have 6 nest thermostats for about the last 10 years. I really liked the way I could program them exactly the times I wanted for each day of the week. Then Google bought out nest and eventually forced the owners to sign on via google vs Nest sign on. In Oct of 2020, they changed the thermostats to where it is pretty difficult to set the exact times that I want and very difficult to understand. I have appealed to the Nest support, numerous times and when someone does respond, my reply to them goes to an undeliverable address, hence: no support.

Setting up a heating or a cooling schedule is pretty straight forward. Simply click the day of the week, tap the time you want it start, set the temperature you want it to be at that time. You can also use Auto Schedule and just change the temperature as you go out your day for a week and Nest will build the schedule for you.
What are trying to accomplish and perhaps I can help you to achieve it.

The Nest thermostat that I prefer: you push on the face of the thermostat and turn the ring for selections. The one I don't care for is the mirror face, that you slide your finger on the side and tap. As I understand, the first is Gen 1 and gen 2, and the latter is gen. 3. Is that what you understand, for the different generations?
