no wifi connectivity, "continue setup in Google home app" message

thermostat was working fine, connected to wifi etc..Verizon then installed a new router in my home, and the tech(nor I) could get the nest reconnected to the new wifi..after a month of using it manually, I did a factory reset to see if that would help..nope, now I get "continue setup in te Google home app" message, but I don't have connectivity!..tried removing the batteries etc..I'm now without heat/AC..

Hi clane7,

  1. First, power off your phone, usually by pressing and holding its power button.
  2. Leave it powered off for a few minutes, then turn it back on.
  3. Make sure you're using a recent version of iOS and the latest version of the Google Home app.
  4. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on and you're connected to the Wi-Fi network you want to connect it to.

Once that's done, do the same steps it sounds like you originally did:

  1. Pull your thermostat off its base and remove both AAA batteries.
  2. Replace the batteries and press your thermostat onto the base until it clicks into place.
  3. Your thermostat will take a few moments to turn on and restart.

Once ready, retry setup in the Home app. Let us know how you get on!

Hi David- thank you for your reply! I followed your instructions, but still the same message on the unconnected nest(continue set up in Google home app). Not sure what else to try here...is there a way to connect to the nest via Bluetooth(or directly via wifi)? You seemed to suggest that in your email..

Thanks Again for any additional help you can provide!

Bluetooth is used during the setup to help you connect the thermostat to the app and Wi-Fi. Let me ask a specialist to review this topic and advise on next steps.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for the steps here, @David_K.

@clane7, I appreciate all the steps you've taken. Could you give these steps a try?

  1. On your Google Home app, remove the Nest Thermostat icon if it's still showing on the homepage.
  2. Create another home structure by tapping the Add button and continuing the prompt.
  3. Ensure that your phone's Bluetooth and WiFi are on.
  4. Check the thermostat wires and make sure that they are still properly connected and that the tabs are pushed down.
  5. Proceed with adding your thermostat to the newly created home structure.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Mark
