"Google Nest" skill no longer available in Alexa app?

My Nest thermostat stopped working with Alexa today. I'm trying to troubleshoot the issue. Connectivity with the device seems to be fine because I can still control it via the Nest app. However, the Alexa app is not able to connect. It says "Server unavailable" when I click my thermostat in the Alexa app. I tried re-adding the "Google Nest" skill to the Alexa app:

I go to "Skills & Games," search for "nest," then click "Google Nest" (top result). However, when I click it I get the following message: "You've reached the end of Alexa's knowledge. Just kidding. This skill no longer exists." Yes, that is literally what it says.

Does Nest no longer support Alexa? Why wasn't this announced? Is there a different "skill" that can be installed to allow the Nest thermostat (3rd gen) to work with Alexa?

Same issue I am having. Even uninstalled and reinstalled the thermostats and Alexa. Read that Alexa is having an issue worldwide today. Hoping it gets resolved soon.

Me also but mine is also connected to my Home Assistant and that stopped as well. I also received an email to check my allowed connections in Google which I have and they are both there and enabled. This looks a strange Google issue to me.

Hi all,

Thanks for posting in the community. I understand you're trying to connect your Nest Thermostat with the Google Nest skill in the Alexa app, but when you try, you receive a message saying it's no longer available, which prevents you from continuing. I appreciate the detailed information shared. No worries, I'd be more than glad to assist you.

First of all, please make sure your account has been migrated to Google. If you haven't, please follow the steps in this article: Migrate your Nest account to a Google Account. If your account is already migrated, please follow these steps:

  • Disable the old Nest Alexa skill: To disable the old Nest Alexa skill, open the Alexa app with your Alexa account > Tap More > Skills & Games and scroll down to Your skills. Find the Nest Alexa skill and disable it.
  • Remove all Nest Devices manually from the Alexa app: To remove all Nest Devices manually from the Alexa app, open the Alexa app > Devices tab > select the Nest device you want to remove > remove device.
  • Enable the new Google Nest Alexa skill from the Google Home app: Open the Google Home app with your Google account > Settings at the bottom of the screen and tap + Add > Service > Amazon Alexa skill. Follow the instructions on the screen to enable the skill in the Alexa app.

For more information about this, please visit the next helpful article: Support for Works with Nest has ended.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,
Jonathan

Hi many thanks. This fails. I get 404 error when trying to add the Google Home Alexa skill (after selecting the check boxes to give access).

Whatever they did last week broke both my Alexa control and Home Assistant control which is truly annoying....

Thanks, Paul.

Anyone managed to fix this. So annoying that I now have basic functionality only directly on my Nest app. The whole point of this is to control from Alexa or Home Assistant. I understand a Google update may have broken this, can it be revoked please to reinstate working.
