second nest thermostat

I installed a nest thermostat.  It was working fine.  I want to install a second nest thermostat for a different zone in the same home.  However, it says I need to have a c connector.  I didn't have to have that for my first one.  So I couldn't finish the setup process and the second nest thermostat is not connected to wifi.  I get a network error on the thermostat.  Do I need a c-connector?

Hey sideline2,

Thank you for posting here.

Your Nest Thermostat needs to have a stable power from your system to keep it running and connected to your WiFi all the time. It is recommended to have a common wire to prevent your thermostat from turning off and disconnecting from WiFi.

For the meantime, you could try to charge your second thermostat on a USB and try to complete the setup. You could check out this link to know more about common wire.

Regards,

Ryan
