I thought I set mine up correctly but when I switch to heat it only blows cool air. The wires look correct so I am wondering what I did wrong.

Any nest thermostat that you wish to change from heating mode to cooling mode, all you have to do is rotate to the heating symbol, or the cooling symbol and select it.

When I do that nothing happens. It’s not turning the heat on. For example I turned it up to 72. It said it would take an hour. I left and came home in an hour and it was still 64. The fan was on but it never became heat.

@AlcalaDan65 if your nest learning thermostat has been properly installed, you simply need to select the Mode symbol and choose the mode you want. Your possible mode choices are heat, cool, off. This is how you change the mode of your system.
Tap you Nest Learning Thermostat to wake it up. Rotate the dial ring until Mode is Highlighted. Press to select.
Rotate the ring to highlight Cool. Press to select
