I purchased a 2nd Google Wifi point for my household. Set up was going well - the device was recognized, scanned the QR Code, and then the error message - Can't connect this device. I have reset my modem, unplugged and restarted my modem, doen the same to all devices, etc. I have done factory resets on the google devices at least a dozen times. I've deleted and redownloaded the Google Home app, and set up an entirely new "home" location and reconnected devices. I switched the new "add-on" puck and made it the primary wifi point. No matter WHAT I do, the end result when connecting the 2nd point is: "Connection failed. Couldn't connect to this device. Try again or tap get help for more solutions"
And yes, cloud services is turned on in my Home app. I've toggled that on and off as well. Nothing works. I'm ready to chuck them both in the trash and go to a more user-friendly system!

Since iOS is mentioned here.
Make sure you have no VPN enabled/ connected; not any 3rd party product, nor the "Apple iCloud Private Relay".

Make sure the Google Home app has permissions to "local network access".
