Additional google nest wifi access point in a different google home

Hi,
I am renting a basement apartment and the internet is provided by the landlord. She said the wifi connection in the whole house (both hers above and the basement apartment) is through google home. However, the wifi signal appears to be weak in the basement. So my question is: Can I purchase an additional nest wifi access point (to hopefully improve the wifi signal) and set it up on my own google home app? Or does it have to be added to the same google home that contains the nest router (i.e. my landlord's google home)?

It must be added to the same Google Home home as the master Nest Wifi puck. The landlord could add it for you. Or add you to their Google Home home. But you can't do it without involving the Google account and Google Home home of the landlord.

Thanks a lot for your reply, and insights. One other question: The major reason I feel the wifi signal is weak in the basement is that I have been having a hard time connecting my wifi speakers (both Google nest audio and Sonos) to the Wifi. Do you think the additional access point would help?

It likely will. Return it if it doesn't?

But I'd rather get the "Nest Wifi router", as it has greater Wi-Fi range, speed (AC2200 vs AC1200) and ethernet ports (which you can plug devices into, even a unmanaged switch if you want more than two ports).

But beware that all your devices will be reachable ny the landlord and vice versa in a setup like this.
