Got my first Google Nest Wifi router. Setup seems simple and the router does have 2 ethernet ports. One goes to the modem, yes indeed. Can I connect my PC to the other? I have searched everywhere and this issue is not addressed. Thanks for helping the dummy out. 🙂

Welcome to the Nest Wifi club. 🙂
Yes, the 2nd port is a LAN port, which can be plugged into a device (like a PC), or even a unmanaged switch if you want even more ethernet ports for wired devices.

Hey, robdz53.
It looks like olavrb was able to help you out here. Before I mark this as resolved, is there anything else you might need?
Thanks.

For sure, MarkDirac! These terms aren't super common outside of networking setups and even then aren't used much on a casual basis. It's always good to ask questions and tap into the community's expertise.
It looks like we got this one wrapped up. I'll go ahead and mark it resolved and close up the thread unless anybody needs anything else.
Thanks.

Oops. I should have been more explicit Jeff. I was suggesting that, before you close this issue, that you take 20 seconds to tell the dozens of people reading this thread in the future what is a unmanaged switch.
An "unmanaged switch" is simply a name for a box which connects several different devices via ethernet cables to a router or another "switch". They cost about $10 and typically have about a half-dozen sockets for other devices.

Ah, yes. Thanks for that, MarkDirac!
As stated, they're cheap and help you extend your ethernet capabilities significantly. If you're needing hardwired connections, definitely check them out.
Thanks.

Hey, everyone.
As we've slowed down a bit, I wanted to check back in and see if anyone still needed any input on this or to see if we're all set for now. Let me know if you need more help.
Thanks,
- Jeff

Hi, everyone.
Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.
Thanks,
- Jeff

Yes. This is not a dummy question, it is a sensible question. And I can imagine that most other readers of robdz53's question will wonder what on earth is an "unmanaged switch".
