I have Verizon FiOs 1GB, with the ONT in the basement. This is where Verizon installed their G3100 router. My office is in the attic, 3 floors above the basement. There is a coax cable running from the basement to a bedroom on the 3rd floor. Verizon connected an E3200 router at this point.
I can receive an ok Wi-Fi connection (200-300mbps) in my Attic Office with this set up, however, it is inconsistent. I work remotely and I’m required to be on video calls most of the day, so the inconsistency becomes a problem.
I purchased the Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro, thinking that I would be able to extend the signal between the third-floor bedroom and the attic office.
I am NOT tech/network savvy, so my knowledge is pretty limited.
I was really hoping that the Nest Wi-Fi Pro would connect to the Verizon network via Wi-Fi. Out of the box, that does not seem to be the case. It seems that I need to connect the Nest Wi-Fi Pro to the Verizon router via ethernet cable. This essentially means the signal is still transmitting from the same location in the house as the Verizon router - not my goal. During set up, the Nest Wi-Fi Pro prompted me to create a new network. Even though this is not my desired end goal, I tried it. I created a new network and connected to it from my laptop. The speed is significantly slower. I even added a second Nest Wifi Pro in my office and connected it (wirelessly) to the first Wifi Pro in the bedroom. This did nothing to improve the signal speed on the new network.
From what I’ve been reading, I’m guessing that the correct way to set this up is to connect the Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro directly to the ONT in the basement via ethernet. Unfortunately, I think that would mean I would need three separate nest Wi-Fi Pros and could get no use out of the Verizon routers that I currently have.
I am here hoping that someone can tell me that I am wrong and there is a way to actually use a single Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro to extend the wifi signal from the Verizon router.
If there is not a way to extend the Verizon wifi signal using the Google Nest Wi-Fi Pro, is there a better way to achieve this goal while still using the Verizon equipment (i’m really not a big fan of continuing to spend more money on equipment)? Do I just need to get another Verizon router for the attic? If so, can it connect via wifi (I do not have another coax cable to that level)?
I appreciate any advice.

Nest Wifi is not a Wi-Fi extender or repeater, it is a mesh Wi-Fi system and must have a wired connection to your Verizon router. You achieve broader coverage by using multiple Nest Wifi points, which connect to each other wirelessly to extend Wi-Fi coverage across your home.
