Connecting HP Officejet Pro 8600 to Google Nest

I'm trying to connect my HP Officejet Pro 8600 to the Nest Wifi.  I've tried to use the HP wizard setup and it discovers the wifi SSID, but when I enter the proper password, it will not connect to the network.  I've tried restarting the wifi and printer, in order, and then attempting to connect.  I've tried resetting the printer to factory defaults, then connecting.  I've also tried manually entering the SSID/password (not using the discovered SSID), but this will not allow a connection.  I've even tried setting up a Guest Network for printer connection, but to no avail.  All these attempts have not worked.  I did also attempt to manually enter the Nest Router IP, but the printer would not accept the manual entry.

BTW, the printer connected flawlessly to my previous Arris modem/router.

I'm at a loss... Can you help?

Hi, MikeD.

Sorry for the connection issues you're having getting your printer set up. I know how frustrating printer setup can be. Let's try and work this one out for you.

So looking at your troubleshooting, it looks as if you've done everything you would need to and that you have done it correctly. I see that you have restarted the devices in involved, but have you tried resetting your printer back to its original network settings? Most HP printers have the option in their network settings to fully restore network settings to factory settings. It's possible that some setting in there from your old network is causing some issues in setup now.

If you could reset that and try the process again, let's see if that does anything for moving forward. If you are still having issues, please let me know and we'll see what else we can try.

Thanks.

Hi Jeff,

I have tried resetting the printer to factory defaults, then connecting.  There's a touchpad menu driven reset option and I've used that option several times, in an attempt to get anything to work.  I have heard about a "hard reset" capability, but could never find the exact procedure to attempt that level of a reset.

Any other ideas?

Thanks again.

Hey there MikeD,

Sorry to hear that you're still having issues with your printer. Have you tried reaching out to HP support to see how they can help you with factory resetting your printer or helping you with these settings as well? We definitely still want to help if we can, I just want to make sure that we go through a process of elimination as well.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,
Garrett DS
