“Connection Failed” trying to add 3rd nest router.

I have 2 nest routers on my google home now.  I am trying to add a third.  During the set up I get past the QR scan and “join setupxxx.yd” network then it says “connection failed.”  I’ve reset all the routers and modems.  I’ve tried on a different device.  Same every time.  “Connection failed”

You are using the same Google account when setting up the new 3rd device, as the one used for setting up the two existing ones?

All three pucks are made for the same region and country? Mixing US and EU units won't work for instance.

If the answer is yes to both of these, try:

  • Set up from a different phone or tablet with the Google Home app, logged in with the same Google account off course.
  • Hardwire the 3rd/ new device from the primary/ master pucks LAN port to the WAN port. This is called wired backhaul (https://support.google.com/wifi/answer/7215624?hl=en). Set it up, if successfull, let it update itself to latest firmware, boot up again, unplug power and ethernet and place it where you want it.
  • Try to configure the new 3rd one as a completely new network in a new Google Home home. If successfull, let it update itself, reboot, then factory reset that whole network (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6246619?hl=en), then try add it to your existing network.
  • Try to manually connecting to that set up SSID/ Wifi network, as if you didn't have a QR code (https://support.google.com/wifi/answer/9012064).

I don't work for Google.

It all eventually worked.  Multiple resets of hardware and the network.  Thank you.
