Iphone 14Pro with google mesh router not working

Sdperl

My iphone 14 pro will not hold a phone call when I use a Google mesh router. I have three points. Connectivity to the Internet is solid both up and down loads when I turn Wi-Fi off. The phone works fine. Any suggestions?

I JUST received the Moca this afternoon and was going to try it this evening.  I will unplug the Verizon router and plug in the Moca.  I will reboot the settob boxes as well.  Thank you!

Ok i unplugged the coax from the V router and okugged itninto the Moca. Did the same with the Ethernet from the WAN port on router and plugged it into the Moca.  Powered it up and no internet.   I rebooted the google meah router and still no internet.   Suggestions?

Hey @Sdperl .

It sounds like you may have omitted some steps in the instructions. Please make sure the below are followed as written. Otherwise, you will still not get any internet connection.

To add, once you go through the setup, you might have to reset the Nest Wifi router and set it back up if you are not getting connection still. The first steps are critical in the instructions in the link.

So this is getting out of my tech capability.  Also the Moca I bought has one ethernet output on it leaving no other ports for a couple of hardwired items.  THanks for your help but think I will hire someone.

thank you.  I am going to try again but realized that the Moca router I purchased: https://a.co/d/1Vfbjpi, only has one output on it and I need a four total ethernet outputs for various hardwired devices.  Am I thinking about this correctly?  ALso, I assume I have to call Verizon and make sure my ONT has an active ethernet port and that that ethernet port is active at my router.  no small feat!  If all of that is true, I will try again.  So, do I need a different Moca? one that has multiple ports out?

Hey @Sdperl .

You shouldn't have to call Verizon. The settings changes that are needed to use the ONT with Ethernet are in the instructions.

Gotcha. Am i correct thinking a moca with more etherney ports makes sense?

Hey @Sdperl .

All MoCA devices should only have one Ethernet port to supply the signal to the device. The other ports should be coaxial which connects to your Fios TV receiver. Some do have two coaxial ports though.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for lending a hand again, @PatrickP_Viking.

So some interesting developments.  I was speaking with someone who suggested plugging the Mesh router directly into the ethernet port on the ONT.  After setting it up and adding the two additional points, it is working.  The question is, will phone calls work?  I won’t know until the end of this week but think since I am bypassing my Verizon router, it will.  Not sure if I unplug the Verizon router, if it will affect my television (maybe the guide?), but will try perhaps as early as this evening.  Than you all again for the extraordinary help.

Hey @Sdperl .

Glad you got it working! Per the link I gave, the Nest Wifi was supposed to be plugged directly into the ONT after doing the configuration change on the Verizon router so the ONT would change the signal from coaxial to Ethernet. Admittedly, the picture of the replacement router did look a lot like a switch so I can understand where things could have gotten confusing.

You will still have to use the MoCA device. Connecting the MoCA to restore TV service is in the last step (#13).

So I have been hesitant to reply until I waited a few days testing the new configuration but so far so good.  Here is how I am set up which is probably what was told to me.  The Google mesh is in place and working fine.  The mesh router is plugged in to the Verizon G3100 router, directly.  When it was plugged directly into the ONT, I lost, after a couple of days, on demand capability and other functions.  The only change I made to the 3100 router was to change the port configuration from AUTO to 1000 Full Duplex.  SO FAR, everything is working great.  I know I am still paying for the 3100 but my main goal was to get the mesh running.  I could try the Moca but am a bit leary.  The great news is that I have superb wifi and I can make a wifi cell call.  I also learned a bit.  I will probably try the Moca again.  THANK YOU ALL!
