Moved to Nest Pro - Disappointed

I decided to take advantage of the discount going on for the Google Nest Pro WiFi. I purchased the three point kit to replace my 2nd Gen single and 3 - 1st series. Some of the issues I have seen so far:

  • Devices are not connecting to the nodes even though they are closer to the device, like by floors
  • Speed test for my 1GB service is much less and less consistent than my 2nd Generation node
  • Mesh testing is inconsistent even though nothing moves. Great some days and weak other days
  • Wifi with connected devices has been spotty even though it worked great with the older devices.

Does anyone have any suggestions on fixing this? Anyone else seeing similar issues?

Hey folks,

Appreciate your helpful response, @Agentgill.
@cherk947, thanks for posting — let's see what's going on.

A few questions: are you using a modem/router combo from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)? How many devices are dropping from the network? Also, do you have any paused devices?

Give these steps a try:

If you're using a modem/router combo, set that to bridge mode to avoid double NAT issues.
Make sure that there is minimal to no interference (concrete, bulletproof glass, metal, mirror, etc.) and the points are no more than two rooms apart.
Remove any special characters in your network name and password.
Turn off IPv6.
Change your DNS server into 8.8.8.8 on the primary and 8.8.4.4 on the secondary server. Hit the save/ floppy disk icon on the upper right.
Unplug the power from your Google Wifi devices for 2 minutes.
If the issue persists, try factory resetting your network.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,
Abi

After trying to make this system work for a week, attempting a lot of these settings, I could not make this system work. Unfortunately this is going back to the store and was replaced with a Deco system. Works out of the box. It was a good run Google but this seems half baked at best.

Hello cherk947,

Just one quick final check in here since activity has slowed down. We'll be locking the thread in the next 24 hours, but if you still need help, I would be happy to keep it open. If there's more we can do, just let me know.

Thanks,
Abi

You can lock this thread. I returned the product and went with the TP-Link Deco XE-75. I was able to get rid of my ISP Gateway something I could not do with the Nest. Wish the Nest performed like this and had better overall speed performance.
