Myself and hundreds of others have reported an issue with Nest Wifi Point Bluetooth functionality with bluetooth speakers.
When a bluetooth speaker is initial paired with a speaker it works fine, but after several hours or days, the connection seems to become corrupt.
Upon reconnecting the speaker to Nest Wifi point, it beeps as if it is paired, but no sound comes out of it, sound only keeps coming out of the point itself and not the speaker, and address in Google home paired devices just shows an address instead of showing the name of the speaker. The only remedy for this is unplugging the point and re-plugging it in, or restarting through Google home. It works for a bit and then same thing happens - connection with speaker but no sound playing. This is not a an acceptable solution to unplug or restart my point every time I want to play audio through my bluetooth speaker- there is something obviously wrong with the software and/or hardware causing this.
Reports of this has been going on for a year and a half, and despite many reports of this, it has not been fixed and is very frustrating to myself, as well as many others.
When is Google going to fix this problem with basic functionality with Nest Wifi point bluetooth connection to speakers?

Been dealing with the same exact issue. Unfortunately I think I’m going to have to do some research and move on to another system that’s not Google.

I picked up an Amazon ECHO, works great with my speakers ... I have three google devices that may now be bound for recycling. Sad Google doesn't care. Three devices three bluetooth speakers and none work? All work great with the ECHO... Get your SHLT together google.

Apparently Google is deaf to this issue. I am replacing my mini's with Echo Dots as they have 3.5mm jacks to connect to my stereo. Google supposedly made the 3.5mm jack not needed with their bluetooth setup with an external speaker but since this is so buggy and not being addresses by Google its time to move on

I personally find the lack of acknowledgemnent/transparency on this issue the biggest frustration. Absolutely no comment on whether this is a known issue that anyone is working on, or a root cause.
The only thing I have seen from any Google related person is to tell people to unplug and re-plug in the point which is a poor bandaid at best, not a solution.
Without any acknowledgement or openness, I can only speculate this may be hardware related and possibly can't be fixed.

Hey, all.
So this is a problem that we're dealing with internally right now and we are actively working on a fix. Right now we're looking to gather information from those affected, so if you could send device feedback in, it would help our internal teams to find the issue. The instructions for doing that are below. When you send feedback, make sure to write a few words about the issue, also naming any other devices involved (Nest Hub, Nest WiFi point, Google WiFi point, etc.) so we can get a full picture.
Step 1. Turn on device reports
Step 2. Share your feedback
Thanks. I'll update everyone as we know more, and I'll be responding to this thread going forward.

Hi Jeff, thanks for sending this. This has been an issue with nest, nest mini, etc for quite some time now and Google has been made aware of it for quite some time. What is the plan/process for a fix?
I have come up with a solution for this. I have two outdoor stereo sound systems that I wanted to connect my Google nest minis to. I was successful via Bluetooth but as we all know the minis drop the BT connection after about an hour of non use. This same thing happens with my Nest in the house. I have half a dozen Google nest and minis in the house on which I play music via YouTube Music
I had some older Amazon echo dot's around so I used them instead to connect to the outdoor stereo system as they have 3.5mm jacks. To solve the problem of having YouTube music inside the house and Amazon Music in the patios I simply cancelled my YouTube Music subscription and subscribed instead to Spotify. I set the default music app in both Google (in the house) and Alexa (outdoor stereos) to Spotify. Now when I ask either Google or Alexa to play music it does so using my single Spotify account so now my problem is fixed.

Hi Jeff,
It April 2022 and still no fix?
02-28-2023 12:04 PM
Still ongoing. I had a 1st gen Google home mini which could not keep a consistent bluetooth connection to an external speaker. So I got the latest 2nd Gen Google Nest Mini which boasted Bluetooth 5.0 and OH MY GOD it's even worse than the 1st gen. Constantly popping in and out to any bluetooth speaker I try, and they are within a couple feet of each other. Any other device I try with said speakers works fine. THIS IS YOUR ISSUE GOOGLE, AND IT IS STILL DEFINITELY NOT FIXED.
10-19-2021 10:33 AM
Hey, MrPeetles.
Thanks for sharing your experience and your current workaround. So the issue is being looked at now. As far as the plan or process, that will be determined by isolating the cause of the issue, which is still in process.
Out of curiosity, have you tried using speaker groups rather than bluetooth connections? I'm not sure if your outdoor system supports WiFi, but if it does, speaker groups might be an overall more reliable way to get your devices playing together and staying connected for now.
But as said earlier, I will keep updates coming as I receive them.
Thanks.
10-19-2021 02:22 PM
Yeah, that's true, MrPeetles. I just wanted to see if it was in play. We'll keep looking for a bluetooth resolution. Thanks!
10-25-2021 02:09 PM
Hey, all.
Just as a follow up, this is still something we're looking at. I don't have any news to share yet, but I wanted to check in and make sure you all knew that I hadn't forgotten about the thread.
Thanks.

Hey, everyone.
I know it's been a while, but I'm still waiting for more info on this. Hopefully I'll hear something soon, but as of right now, I don't have anything new to share.
Thanks.
11-19-2021 11:41 AM
Hey, everyone.
It's still been a while and I'm sorry to say that I still don't have anything new. Has anyone here seen any change in their situation so far, or are we all seeing the same issues?
12-01-2021 01:31 PM
Hey, SmartHomeUser_1.
Thanks for all the info regarding your situation. Hopefully the fix comes out in time! I still don't have timelines on that, but I do know it's being addressed internally. Thanks for helping us diagnose this.

Hey jeff,
Any updates? It's been 7 months since the last one and the issue still occurs.
I have 1 CCwGTV connected to a small old tv with bad audio. I connected my google nest to the CCwGTV via bluetooth to have somewhat better sound, yet it keeps disconnecting the bluetooth connection at random times. I can "just" go to settings and reconnect the nest mini (via the connect button, i don't have to re-pair the nest) but it's pretty anoying nontheless!
12-16-2021 12:38 PM
Hey, fadeeveu.
I just want to make sure I understand this correctly. You are using two Nest Audio devices, but you aren't talking about adding any of the WiFi points into the speaker group, right? The devices involved in your group are the Chromecast and two different Nest Audios? When you get disconnects, do you get any error messages, or does it just drop out?
Let me know and we'll see what we can figure out there. Thanks.
01-03-2022 02:20 PM
Hi Jeff,
The configuration is following:
- Two Nest audios grouped together, one is left channel and the other is right channel.
- Chromecast Google TV connected to this Google Nest group via Bluetooth.
The group functionality is not suitable as I want to use Nest Audio as audio output for my Google TV.
Regards,
Oleg.

Ditto… very frustrating!
01-27-2022 03:37 PM
I decided that I'm not going to use the nest audio. Instead I'm going with a Bose 500, despite the extra cost and that it isn't compatible with Youtube Music via wifi. Maybe that will change someday, but for now I think I'll manage using other music service providers as well, it will probably help me get out of the music rut I may be in. lol

Hi Jeff
I am facing the same issue where when I connect with the Nest Mesh wifi network speaker there is no audio. i have to keep restarting the device to fix it. Could you please help.
Thanks

Hey, everyone.
We have a lot of new reports that I'm noticing and I'm still keeping an eye on things. Unfortunately I still don't have news of when a fix might be ready, but I'm hoping to hear something sooner than later. I know this is frustrating for all of you. I'll share when I know more.
Thanks.
01-19-2022 03:26 PM
Obviously not acceptable from a Google perspective, but do appreciate you checking in and giving updates. Helps us not have to call in, stay on hold, and be disappointed and frustrated. It so helpful you check in.

Hi.
I wondered what the problem. I was usimg my nest audio and another bluetooth speaker just fine for the past 3 days (when i got the audio speaker). Then today cant conmect phone to bluetooth audio.
To be honest my other speaker also began saying not conmected when it was clearly connected to an iapd or my phone.
Seeing comments from others seems the solution may be to use other than google speakers. Which lucky for me I can still returm. I'd hate to say goodbye to youtube music, but it also seems switching to spotify may be a solution as well.
This sucks.
02-28-2023 12:07 PM
It's 2023 and it's still ongoing.
Google should be ashamed of this ridiculous and abysmal service. Jeff, I'm sorry but apparently years of your concern have resulted in NOTHING. Share the shame.

Hi Jeff - looks like it's been three years since this was reported - is there still not a fix for this? Any updates?
05-05-2023 12:32 PM
You still keeping an eye on this Jeff? Care to report?
10-19-2021 11:18 AM
Hi, thanks for the response. I do use speaker groups with my house internal speakers. I think what is missing here is I am trying to connect Google to my outdoor stereo which requires either RCA input or Bluetooth input. I can use RCA input with Echo Dot as that has an earphone jack or BT input with Google which keeps disconnecting. This issue really has nothing to do with speaker groups.

Hi Jeff (and MrPeetles),
Thanks for the updates but I would appreciate a solution by xmas as the Wife wants the Nest Audio speakers out of the house. I experience as many others that Bluetooth connected devices drops from the Google devices. My setup is Nest Mesh Wifi for all my Google / Nest devices.
My specific issue with BT connectivity is this. In my BenQ projector I have a CCwgTV that is Bluetooth connected to a paired set of Nest Audio speakers. The speakers almost always have to be either reconnected from the CCwGTV menu (10%) or rebooted (90%) when I turn on the projector and there is no sound. The reboot scenario is due to I cannot enable Bluetooth pairing mode of the paired speakers in the Google Home app as there is a message stating that the device is registered somewhere else and cannot enter Bluetooth pairing mode. Then I reboot the speakers.
Also, prior to installation of Next Wifi Mesh (early this month), I had factory reset all devices and added them onto the same 5 Ghz network, and for 2-3 weeks it seemed that the speaker pair auto connected when I turned on CCwgtv as I head the connection audio clip. During those 2-3 weeks the Bluetooth connection issues was less frequent (and the wife was happy with the setup). Now, it feels like the Nest Wifi Mesh and switching between 2,4 Ghz and 5 Ghz is making this worse again and I reboot almost every time.
Other related issues:
Sometimes the Bluetooth connection is dropped when closing Disney+ and opening NetFlix. This leaves me to believe that maybe, the app developers have implemented the BT stack differently from one another and does not follow the Google API documentation to the letter.
Currently, the audio stream is cracking when streaming from Disney+, NetFlix, YT, etc. I found a temporary fix for this by setting the advanced audio from "automatic" to "manual". But, last night the cracking audio stream were present again and I switch back to "automatic". Video quality is fine, so it should not the a network issue.
Also, I experience that the right speaker does not receive audio but the left does. It is sometimes fixed by pausing / restarting the movie. This leaves me to believe its something related to the network and the audio stream might be downgraded from stereo to mono. But, there is no transparence (to my knowledge) in what audio quality is being streamed in my setup (I have seen this on other setups). I have the streaming quality set to highest (on all profiles).
PS: The June CCwgTV update improved the out-of-sync audio-video stream while using the Bluetooth connection, so I know you can fix this general Bluetooth connectivity Google 🙂

Hi, I just wanted to add up my experience on this topic since I'm having a similar issue.
First, I'm using the device from Europe - so that might make a difference in software handling.
I have 2 Google nest audio devices paired as a stereo speaker, connected to my pc. apart from the fact that it has a delay of about 0,5 sec's which makes it almost impossible to watch movies or YT Videos, it does disconnect from the second speaker and starts to rustle a little. When I disconnect and reconnect the speakers, the problem is gone but as soon as I stop using the speakers for an hour or so, the problem is back. Nothing too horrible since it takes about 10 seconds to reconnect but still. maybe this info helps...
all the best and good luck fixing it, Max

Having a similar issue. I have a pair of Nest Audio connected to the Chromecast. And there are constant issues.
1) The Pair is disconnecting constantly from the chromecast
2) The Right Nest Audio stops reproducing while the right one keeps working.
3) Constant noises appear. So I have to disconnect and connect from time to time. 😞

Hello Guys.
Im am located in sweden. Just bought 3 nest audio for the house and garage.
In the garage i have a bluetooth speaker (JBL Extreme 2) and i added it as my default speaker. I need another speaker since the area is quite big.
What happens is that after 4-5 seconds of playing the bluetooth connection gets horrible and droppes out all the time so you cant use it. dont understand. Tried removing it, reconnecting, restarting and nothing helps. I have it next to the nest device so it have nothing to do with the signal.
Anny news or ideas? Jeff? 😃

Hi
Just dropping in with similar issues with the Nest Audio; managed to connect via Bluetooth once, now trying airplay etc via iPhone, nothing appearing onbnew Bluetooth devices even though the Nest Audio is in pairing mode.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers, A

Three devices, three different bluetooth speakers worked fine until just before Christmas, on solution I have found that works is the EchoShow.. maybe it is time for all people impacted to move on from Google as I see this has been an issue for far too long and G appears to be moving slower than a sloth tied to a tree.
01-08-2022 09:19 AM
So I have the same issue, but no groups. Simply running a single Nest Speaker and connecting to it via Google TV through Bluetooth. A lot of cut out and choppiness. Also, the connection freezes on me after time. Usually happens when I switch apps within Google TV, but intermintant. When that happens you can't even put it in pairing mode. The only solution is to reboot the best speaker and then it reconnects. I have to do this at least once a day. Also, the choppiness happens many times a day and usually the video/audio sync is off after the audio gets choppy. Almost sounds like a short in a microphone wire.
01-08-2022 09:26 AM
Exactly the same issue. The app switch is causing the choppiness.
01-08-2022 09:35 AM
Figure out a fix or work around by chance?
01-08-2022 11:44 AM
Unfortunately, no. Have connected my old audio system for the tv output. Will be waiting for an update.
But hope there will be a non-Bluetooth integraron, as Alexa has.
01-08-2022 03:35 PM
Agree, I would prefer not to use Bluetooth at all. I wish you could just redirect or group audio with a video source as well.
03-29-2022 02:01 PM
Same experience here.
