Nest router as point: hardwired?

mzanette

I have a nest router along with 2 points currently set up.  If I was to purchase a 2nd nest router, can I hard-wire that router through an ethernet cable so it has a direct connection to the original router as opposed to connecting over wifi?

I have ethernet hookups in my basement that are directly connected to a switch (and to the router) so I would like to use the 2nd router directly connected to an ethernet port, which should theoretically give me a faster connection on the 2nd router at  a different location in my house.  Is this possible or does the Nest wifi router only connect to the original router through wifi just like a point?

I have this done with my Google Wifi.

ISP Modem (in bridge mode) - to Google Router - to ethernet switch - Google points, via ethernet cables connected to the ethernet switch. In the GH app it shows the points as wired. This way the back haul fuction is via the ethernet cables and you will get full ISP speeds.

Thank you so much!  This is is exactly what I hoped for!

Received my 2nd google nest router and set it up through an ethernet cable.  Shows up in Google home as "Connection Type: Wired".  All is well. 😁
