WiFi icon missing on home app.

CharlesinCharj

There is no WiFi icon on the home app. There is mention of a fix on threads through a series but than the mention there is no detail. I am assuming everything needs a factory reset but I am hoping there is something quicker and less tedious and time consuming

This has happened for me some times too. A force close of the Google Home app, then clear app cache, usually brings the Wi-Fi icon back for me. But I'm on Android.

I don't work for Google.

Hello,

The Wifi button went missing from my Google Home account for the first. I don't wish to go through the reset process 😞

I use the iPhone App.

Hi chesat,

Thanks for the response. I'm sorry to hear that you're still having this issue. Could you tell us the light status of your Google Wifi? Also, please make sure that the correct account is logged in to the Google Home app.

Thanks,

Edward

The light is white and everything works fine including parental settings. The account is the same and last time I accessed was 4 weeks ago to share guest password.

I think I might have figured out what happened. I went through Google Accounts "Security Checkup" and made what I thought was recommended changes. That ended up unlinking my Nest and Google accounts.

The router/network is working without any problem. It is just I cannot make any updates. Only option I think is to reset my routers and set it up again. 😞

I have the same issue starting today. I did not change anything in my network nor any google wifi devices.

Please help! I dont what to reset my whole network and reconfigure wifi internet schedules.

Try to force close the app and clear cache, works for me on Android at least.

I don't work for Google.

The solution was to ask my wife to add me again as a household member. Looks like i lost connectivity to my own Home :P. (I hope google keep an eye on this).

Thanks for the help anyway 😉

@alienbeamer, thanks for sharing the steps that worked for you.

@All, if you're not the one that setup the Google Wifi on your account, could you try the steps that worked for @alienbeamer?

Let us know how it goes.

I have the same issue on an iPhone…. Home app is current.  Wi-fi is operating, but no wi-fi icon…. Did force close and cleared Safari cache.

You should clear cache for the Google Home app, not Safari.

I don't work for Google.

Not sure how to do that…. Not finding it???

I don't own a iOS device.

Do you see your Nest Wifi device listed?

Apparently there is supposed to be a WiFi icon in the Google Home App? There isn't one on my iphone - is there a way to get to that through a desktop (Mac)?

Only if you have a physical google nest wifi device.

That's what I have, along with 3 access points.

I  owe a Google wi-fi (first generation) with 4 pucks.   I no longer see the wi-fi icon in the Google Home App.  My Wi-Fi is live, I just can’t get to the Adm controls. How do I get the icon back without a complete reset and install.  Someone shared to reset cache.   I don’t see that option on iOS.

Hey, chesat.

That's an interesting and helpful insight. The security checkup isn't an aspect we've looked into before, so maybe some others should give that a try if they've already ran through the common troubleshooting steps.

Thanks for sharing,

- Jeff

I have Google WiFi 2nd Gen.   I have lost the WiFi icon.  I made some recommended security changes to the Google Account.  I also noticed that I had lost access to some of my 3rd party devices.  Google Home was telling me to request access to the Home but I am the only member.   I requested an invite but nothing happens.

I would prefer not to have to reset the entire network.  I have a ton of firewall setting and devices that are currently setup in Google Home.

Hi dss0001,

Thanks for letting us know. Do you remember the changes that you made on your Google Account? If so, please try reverting the changes and let us know if the Wifi icon would show up on the Google Home app.

Thanks,

Edward

I am still having the same issue.  How can we escalate the issue?

Hi Mgprokosch,

I'm sorry you're still seeing the issue after all this time. We do have an update to the Home app rolling out soon and hopefully that clears this up for you. If you haven't tried yet, however, it's worth uninstalling the Home app and reinstalling it to see if that fixes things. Since your settings will be saved to your account, once you log in, everything will be restored.

Thanks,

Jeff

Thanks for letting me know you've tried that, Mgprokosch.

If the update doesn't fix things, we'll try other options. That should be hitting soon.

Thanks,

Jeff

Hi Jeff, yes I still have the missing wi-Fo icon in the iOS Google Home App.  I was hoping not to reset all 4 access points….

Hi Mgprokosch,

Thanks for the update. Just to isolate the issue, are there any family members of the home structure that can still see the wifi icon?

Thanks,

Edward
