I use a Google Wi-Fi mash network and would like to have stable wifi in the basement.

I life on the third floor of our apartment building.

Is there a way to use a wifi repeater to reach the basement?

What kind of repeater do I need for such an extension of the google mash network?

Thank you for your help!

Hi BorisGonschorek,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand you'd like to have stable Wi-Fi in the basement, especially considering you're using a Google Wifi mesh network and live on the third floor of your apartment building. I'm glad to help you with this!

To provide you with the most accurate information possible, I have a question for you:

What's your existing Google Wifi device model? Please check out the following link for your reference: Tech specs for Nest Wifi Pro, Nest Wifi, and Google Wifi

I look forward to your response.

Regards,
Juan

Hi BorisGonschorek,

Thanks for getting back to me! Considering you're using Google Wifi points in your apartment, you might be able to use another Wifi point to get stable Wi-Fi in the basement. However, there are some details to consider:

  • Google Wifi points work best when they have a clear line of sight to each other. Barriers like heavy furniture and walls made of thick concrete or brick can significantly affect Wi-Fi performance.
  • Crowded Wi-Fi areas like apartment buildings can result in busy Wi-Fi channels and reduced Wi-Fi performance.
  • It's recommended to have 5 Google WiFi points in a single network. Adding more might be detrimental to Wi-Fi performance.

Please check out our helpful article for your reference: How many Nest Wifi Pro, Nest Wifi, or Google Wifi routers or points do I need?

I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
Juan
