Cannot connect Yale lock to Nest app

Ms-lincoln

After factory resetting the Yale X Nest lock to troubleshoot battery draining issues, I cannot complete the connection to Nest app.

After reading more about this issue online, it appears this is due to the lock needing to be “removed” from my Nest account. I don’t see it in my nest account, so not sure how to proceed.

Nest × Yale Lock isn't a product that needs to be removed in the app, before you can reset it by removing the batteries. After you reset the lock however, you must create a master passcode on the lock before you'll be able set it up with the Nest app.

On the lock, press the white indicator light button inside your home. If the light pulses blue and the lock says “Ready. Use your Nest app to add the lock to your account,” then it has been removed from your account. If the lock says “Privacy mode is on” or “Privacy mode is off,” the lock is still paired with your account and the reset didn't complete successfully.

reset the lock, created a master passcode, pressed the white indicator, and the lock still says privacy mode is on.

What would you advise as next steps?

So you hear the part where it says “just a moment, erasing all settings" and the light turns red? And when you put the batteries back in, it should say "Hi, from Yale and Nest"?

In the meantime, assuming you can still see it in the Nest app. Try these steps:

  1. Tap the wheel or gear icon on the top right corner of the Nest app home screen.
  2. Under Settings look for Product > click the name of the Nest x Yale Lock.
  3. On the lock settings scroll down then click remove lock or remove product.

Is your Nest Connect still paired to the app? If so, you might need to remove that as well?

OK I will try that. What are some reasons the batteries might drain quickly?

Hi Ms-lincoln,

Checking in — how’s it going? Did you get a chance to remove the Connect as suggested by davidking? If so, how did it go? Your Nest x Yale Lock uses four standard AA alkaline batteries. How long the batteries last will depend on how often your door is used, but in general they should last about a year.

I appreciate the help, davidking.

Thanks,

JT

The batteries are draining out every 24 hours, consistently. I gave up when I didn’t hear back on this thread and I assume I will need to contact Yale directly.
