Guest codes will not open door

I am restarting this thread that was previously started by goalie3079 under the title “Temporary Codes emailed to a user will not open door.” since there was no satisfactory resolution previously.

 

I am experiencing the same issue where my permanent master code works without issue; however I frequently create new guest codes for Airbnb guests which sometime do not work. I have tested all potential user error points to confirm that it is simply the Yale lock not recognizing the new passcode. I have also stopped putting time limits on the codes to see if it helped the issue but it did not. This started about a month ago and is not tenable to have it keep happening.

Hi FLhome,

 

I’m sorry for the delay. Let’s sort this out — is your lock’s privacy mode on? The guest pass codes won’t work when the lock’s privacy mode is on, only the master code can work. It’s part of the security of the lock. Ensure the privacy mode is off when having guest pass codes. 

 

Here are some of the troubleshooting steps you can try:
 

  1. Place 3 fingers on the display, or press on the Yale logo. The lock takes about a second to recognize this action.
  2. Make sure that the keypad screen is clean. If it's not, wipe with a clean and dry cloth.
  3.  Press the button on the interior lock to make sure Privacy Mode is disabled. You can also open the Nest app Nest app > tap Settings > Nest x Yale Lock > disable Privacy Mode.

I have tried all of your suggested steps and they were not successful. There are still instances where a new code will not work.
