Is it possible to add a guest (Home Entry Only) code for Yale x Nest lock?

Default behavior:  I start Nest app; click gear wheel, go to [Family & Guests].  Click the [(+) Add a guest] button and enter a name for the guest, then click [Continue].

I see "Something went wrong.  Please try that again."

And, sadly, trying again gives the same results.  I've tried uninstalling & reinstalling the Nest app - but no change in behaviour.  Still "Something went wrong."

Is it currently possible to add a new guest code?

[If it matters, I'm running a Pixel Fold on Android 15.]

Hi @DavePeters,

Thank you for your timely post and the comprehensive information you've provided. I understand that you are experiencing some issues when you want to add a guest, and you received an error message that says something went wrong, and you want to know if it's possible to add a new guest code. I'm here to help you and work together to find a solution. In this case we are aware of this and are working on it, which we consider sharing your thoughts directly with our development team through this feedback. And we let you know about any updates.

Please keep me posted.

Warm regards,

Jeremy.

Amusingly, trying today works.  I can both add a guest code and change *my* code.  Both of those things failed last Wednesday.  Delighted to see the update!

Hi @DavePeters,

Thanks for the follow-up information. I'm happy to help!

To better understand the situation, I'd like to ask a few questions:

  • Are there any security alarms set up in your Nest app?
    • If so, remove the Nest Security Alarm and try to use the Home-only enter again.
  • Have you migrated your Nest Account to a Google Account?

In the meantime, let's check this tip:

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Melany

No security alarms.

But, yes; the Nest Account has been migrated to my Google Account.

(Though: I don't want to add a member to my household.  Just add a Guest Code to the Nest x Yale lock.

Today (much like on Monday) it works:

  • Start Nest App.
  • Click Nest x Yale device (called "Front Door" for me)
  • Click [Family & Guests] in bottom middle of page.
  • Click [+ Add a guest]
  • Enter something in [Name] field, and click [Continue]

Eight days ago, I reliably got a "Something went wrong." response (including after restarting and then reinstalling the nest app.)

On Monday - and today - it just works.  I can also change the passcode assigned to a guest - something that also didn't work last week.
