Motion detection setting on doors for Home & Guarding

Hi. When selecting Motion Detection devices that will trigger an alarm when Nest Secure is Home & Guarding i see my door sensors are listed there. Does this mean the sensors will also function as motion (i.e. someone moving closer to he sensor) and trigger the alarm or they will only trigger of the door moves (i.e. opens or closes)? I'd like them to trigger only if the doors open but no if there's motion around it

Hi FeCitrus,

Thanks for posting in our Community. I’m sorry for the delayed response here. I appreciate your questions about Nest Secure. Let’s check it out.

When Nest Secure is set to Home and Guarding, the alarm will sound when a door or window is opened. When set to Away and Guarding, an alarm will sound if your system notices a door or window opening or if it senses motion in your home.

You can check out this handy guide for more information.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Best,

Lance
