Nest Yale Lock re-installation problem- Nest connectivity

custom
Community Member

Had this product for a year, worked perfect. 2 weeks ago it went offline, now I am trying everything to make it work unsuccessfully.

Even factory reset the lock and the nest connect. then I add the nest connect successfully, run a connectivity check and everything is fine, and then adding the YALE lock the first step is find the Nest connect, and never finds it.

Tried this the last 4 days, one to two hours a day.... and have no idea what is the problem, or what I can do,

Any idea??

Thank you guys

Hey folks,

Thanks for reaching out. I'd love to know more about this and I have a few questions:

1. How far is your Nest Connect from your Wi-Fi router?

2. Are there any walls, mirrors, microwave appliances, or Bluetooth devices between the Nest Connect and the Wi-Fi router?

3. How many Nest Connect do you have? Are they all online?

4. Do you have a Nest Detect (motion sensor)? Does it experience the same issue?

5. How far is your Nest x Yale Lock from the Nest Connect?

Thanks,

Archie

My Nest Connect is between 10 - 12 ft to the router. No walls is an open space, (no mirrors or microwave) there is a tv between the door and the router (and it uses the same Wi-Fi).

I only have one nest connect, and its online.

I don't have a Nest detector.

the distance between the nest connect and the Nest x Yale lock is 4.5 ft

Thank you so much Archie!!!!!

Hey custom,

Thanks for the information. We appreciate you sharing that with us — it’s a big help.

Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Take off the battery cover and remove the batteries from your lock. If you received a low battery alert, use a fresh set of standard AA batteries. Don't use rechargeable batteries with your lock.
  2. Put the batteries back in after 60 seconds. Wait a few minutes to check if your lock comes back online.
  3. Restart the Connect:
    • Plug Connect into a power outlet.
    • Hold down Connect’s button until the light pulses blue (about 10 seconds). Then release the button.
  4. Factory reset your Connect. Hold your Connect’s button for much longer than 8 seconds, the light will turn yellow, which means your Connect is preparing to factory reset. Keep holding down the button, when the light flashes yellow then goes off, release the button.
  5. Remove it from the Nest app. Then, add it back. The recommended router settings are the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi frequency.
  6. Restart your modem or router, unplug it from the power outlet, wait for 1 to 2 minutes. Then, plug it back in.
  7. If all else fails, factory reset your lock. Then, re add it to your Nest app.

@Jrollison, please do the steps above that should help do the trick. Those should help you get back on track.

Let me know how it goes.

I appreciate your help, Archie.

Thanks,

JT

I am having the same issues.  My lock just started going offline after years of service.

I reset it, remove the batteries (and replaced them) and it works again.  Every night around 3:30 am, it goes offline.  The Nest Connect is registered by the router with no errors, the Connect device is 10 ft away from the lock with a solid connection to the access point with no error messages to the network.

I have reset the device a dozen times now and have given up and I am researching an alternative the Yale lock--this is not an acceptable option at this point.

Very troubling to have to reset the device each day.  There must be some upgrade that has failed along the way as this is the only device on my network that is showing any failures.  All the other Nest devices are running smoothly and there are no error message in the log when the device goes offline.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you all for the answers.

after 3 weeks of a heated war against my Yale - lock (hehehe) it seems I finally made it work.

i tried factory reset multiple times, changing batteries. changing my network config, everything you can imagine, but it seems the problem is just connectivity so I started from 0 but using a hotspot Wi-fi.

Connect the Nest connect to the hotspot, then the yale - lock, once it is on line, go to your nest connect, and change the Wi-fi network to the one you have at home/office. and it should work perfect.
