Nest lock deadbolt stuck

New homeowner. I did a factory reset but it’s telling me “deadbolt is stuck” and cannot lock or unlock. Physically deadbolt locks and unlocks fine. I saw a post about a “wobbly locking spindle” and I need the answer to that bc it might help me. Please help.

Hi Mjm2023,

Uh-oh! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Nest lock deadbolt. If you've already performed a factory reset and are still encountering the "deadbolt is stuck" message, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Ensure the deadbolt mechanism is free from obstructions, debris, or other obstacles to ensure its smooth movement and prevent any hindrance.
  2. Apply a small amount of lubricant, like graphite powder or silicone-based lubricant, to the deadbolt mechanism to alleviate friction or sticking that may cause the "deadbolt is stuck" error message.
  3. The spindle connection between the lock and the deadbolt mechanism should be securely attached and not loose or damaged. If it is wobbly, tighten or adjust it according to the lock's instructions.
  4. Power cycle the Nest lock by removing the batteries or power cables, disconnecting for a few minutes, then reconnecting the power source, as this can sometimes resolve temporary glitches or errors.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
