“can’t lock door”

i keep getting a “can’t lock door message make sure the door is closed and unlocked” message.” the door locks just fine manually and is installed correctly. how do i solve?

If you lock the door via google home or assistant when the door is open, does the bolt extend? do you still get the error message?

I had a problem in the winter with mine where the door would appear to physically lock but I would get that same message. Turned out that when I got the message, the bolt was almost fully extended but not quite. I could still slightly turn the lock knob, feel a click and then it was fully extended.

If I pushed/pulled on the door handle while it was locking everything was fine but if I didn't, about 50% the time I would get the error message. I ended up slightly adjusting the striker plate to fix it.
